Transportation

Arriving by plane

The closest airport is Graz Thalerhof. From the airport, you can take the train line S5 to the main railway station. Alternatively, you can take bus 630 to Graz Puntigam Bahnhof and change to tram line 5 to go to the center (Jakominiplatz, the central hub for tram lines in Graz).

You can also take a train or bus from Vienna International Airport to Graz.

Public transport in Graz

Graz has an efficient public transport system based on buses and trams. The easiest way to purchase a ticket is to use one of the machines within the trams or at some of the bigger stations (in particular, at the main railway station and Jakominiplatz). Tickets can also be purchased online via the app GrazMobil. You can also purchase tickets at a Trafik (kiosk). Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic it is no longer possible to buy tickets directly from a bus driver (however, it is possible in trams, because they contain ticket machines).

We recommend that you buy a weekly ticket. It costs €18.30 and covers all of Graz (zone 101), including the airport, for 7 days. It can also be bought online and printed.

You can check the connections with BusBahnBim-Auskunft.
