Welcome to the website of Salvatore Tringali

As of March 2016, I am a Lise Meitner fellow at the Institute for Mathematics and Scientific Computing of University of Graz, in a joint project with Alfred Geroldinger whose focus is the interplay between factorization theory and arithmetic combinatorics.

This follows a short-term appointment (from November 2015 to February 2016) at the Centre de Mathématiques Laurent Schwartz (CMLS) (École Polytechnique), where I had already been a postdoc (from January to July 2014) in the frame of the ANR project CAESAR.

From November 2014 to October 2015, I was a Texas A&M research associate in Doha and worked in the research group of enumerative and algebraic combinatorics with Catherine H. Yan and Rudolph Lorentz. The objectives of this activity included the study of combinatorial and algebraic properties of parking functions and Gonçarov polynomials.

I hold a PhD in (pure) mathematics, obtained from the Université de Lyon, under the advisorship of Alain Plagne and François Hennecart. I defended my thesis in November 2013, at the Université de Saint-Étienne. All these experiences come after an Intra-European Fellowship (from the Marie Curie Actions program) I was awarded in December 2010. The grant financed an individual project of 24 months, carried out at the Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions (Université ``Pierre et Marie Curie'') under the supervision of Yvon Maday and essentially aimed at a career shift (before moving to France, I got a first PhD in computational electromagnetics and worked for some years in Italy in the same field).

I have a younger sister, Margherita, and a beautiful niece, Anjana, who live in Paris. I own a small farm, run by my beloved parents, Angelo and Vittoria, in the countryside of my home town, in the far south of Italy.
